Name: Mauro Magnani

My Area of Interest: Pharmacogenomics

My Favourite Quote: man is ethical only when life, as such, is sacred to him, that of plants and animals as that of his fellow men, and when he devotes himself helpfully to all life that is in need of help. Albert Schweitzer

I am a:Professor at the University of Urbino, Italy

Short Profile:

What are your future goals? Where do you see your research going?:
My final goal is to develop methods and applications that are able to improve the quality of life of each individual by investigating the role of genomics in defining diseases susceptibility and drug efficacy

Technologies seem to changing faster than ever, how do you adapt to that? What are the current technologies you are using?:
I expect that only a combination of different technologies could increase our productivity and reduce costs favouring applications. Nanotechnology is certainly part of this process and once combined with new materials, new chemistries and bioinformatics will certainly provide a boost

In the broader picture, where do you see the application for your cutting-edge research?:
My attention will be dedicated expecially to pharmacogenomics

Fast forward to 2020. What’s your vision of Genomics in 2020?:
Simple, cheap, available to everybody
